Nicaragua 2013 {Travel Photography}

Nicaragua was incredible!  I have not been to Costa Rica but I am guessing Nicaragua is that and more.  My friend Jess and I kicked off our stay in Nica at an amazing private house on the beach right in front of Panga Drops and a mile down from Colorados surf spot.  Mark and Dave’s house was so relaxing and you can’t beat the view with 2 pools looking out over the water right up to the sand.  We ate the most amazing food while we were there thanks to chef Zac who prepared all of the 4 course meals!  I am not huge into surfing but it was fun to longboard out there, even on the off surf season the waves get big!!  I spent lots of time pool side, getting massage son the beach and taking yoga classes with Kimi (who is amazing)!  Zac and Kimi run the house and your stay while you are there.  I would highly recommend Mark and Daves to anyone wanting a great surf or yoga stay that is relaxing and right on the water.  After our vacay stay we backpacked down to San Juan Del Sur a little surfer city on the water with a little bay.  It was a great little town and we met lots of fun people there.  We also did some zipling that was so much FUN! We went on 17 zip lines through the tress and at times we could see all of San Juan Del Sur and the ocean!  Lastly we spent a few days in Granada, which is an old city filled with people, good food, amazing architecture and lots of colorful doors!  I bought myself a huge hammock there to bring home (Nica is known for it’s hammocks).  No  better way to bring the relaxation of Nicaragua home then swinging in your own handmade hammock!  Enjoy the photos!

A sea turtle came up and laid it’s eggs right in front of Mark and Dave’s on our last day, it was an incredible way to end the week!

Lots of local food.  Best was plantains with fried cheese on top with beans and slaw.  AMAZING!!! Even tried “fried fish” which came out literally a fried fish (when in Rome, or Nicaragua!).

Day hike to Gigante! Little fish town a few miles south of our house.

We had an impromptu yoga shoot after our spa day up on the yoga plank looking over a cove, doesn’t get better than that!

Mel get relaxed and in the zone.

Kimi killing it in her yoga poses!

It was crazy watching this crow stalk the turtle to try and pluck the eggs away!  Some of the locals at the house guarded the eggs and made sure they were safe!

…and this is where I returned my emails every morning, not a bad view.
