What’s a First Look?  Should I do one?  What’s the benefit?  Let me tell you I love doing first look photos for my brides and grooms.  A first look photo is when the bride and groom decide to see each other before the ceremony and take pictures.  We always find a private place to do the reveal so that the moment can be intimate and special.  In this photo the bride snuck up around the tree.  I love their expressions and huge smiles!  I love it when the bride and groom choose to do a first look because it let’s us get all of the bridal party and bride and groom photos taken care of before the ceremony.  It also gives us extra time to do any other creative or styled photos (re: add in props, thank you signs, silly mustaches, etc…)  Why is that awesome?  Because then once the ceremony is done all we have left is family portraits and the bride and groom get to actually attend the cocktail hour!  We also don’t have to worry about losing light if it is a later wedding or a winter wedding.  I never push a couple to do a first look, it is always completely up to them! I just wanted to share a few pluses to doing one.  About 70% of my brides and grooms choose to do a first look.
